Question by Cherry: Where can I learn about more paintings/art such as Maxfield Parrish?
I particularly love Maxfield Parrish paintings because of the his good taste in nature, mainly the sky. But I have found a new likeness for art and I want to learn more about it. Where do I start?

On another note, is it normal to get a good feeling in your stomach when you see good art? I just started doing that recently, I don’t know why.

Best answer:

Answer by elsphinc
good art should move you, over and over. speaking of maxfield parish there is a huge original hanging in the bar “Maxfields” at the Sheraton Palace in downtown San Francisco. as for where to begin i’d have to say community college or get a local museum pass

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by djhoodie2005: Why should neither evolution nor creationism be taught in public schools ?
I have a debate coming up and I am on the Con team of “Evolution and Creationism should be taught in school”. Which means I am opposed to the teachings of both evolution and creationism in public school. HELP PLEASSEEE !!!

Best answer:

Answer by Peter
This is preposterous because evolution SHOULD be taught in public schools, indeed without qualifying it for the tender sensibilities of the hard of thinking creationist students; evolution is integral to a proper understanding of biology, indeed is the central unifying concept in biology. This is so typical of the schools; they are so intent on being politically correct that they are not even correct. IDIOTS! The schools have become an absolute sham, a joke.

Question by DJ Rockz: Should all elementary school students be required to learn a foreign language?
I am on the cons side of this debate. I need any of these followings.
1) Professional information
2) Percentage of the information
3) Percentage of the following information
“Most people say that to be a bilingual, one need to start studying at a young age. However, not all people can get that education. There will be a gap between rich and poor in school.”
*I need the answer as soon as possible. Please help me!!!”

Best answer:

Answer by kwazywabbott
Absolutely! Every American child should begin an intensive Program in our second language, Spanish, by grade three. To advance from elementary to middle and from middle to high, oral and written tests in the language should be required.

There is a gap between rich and poor in school and everywhere else! It is natural, and our schools should reward only excellence. Now a passing grade in some systems is 50! How far could you get in a career if you could do only fifty percent of the work?

Question by bartmcqueary: Should it be illegal to encourage your children to fight back?
Several parents have been charged across America recently for encouraging their children to stand up to bullies.

One case involved a father who’s son was being picked on by a group of boys in the park. The father told his son to fight them back. When this boy opened up a can of whoop-a at his father’s bequest, the father was charged.

The same thing have has happened when parents tell their kids to buck up to the bullies at school. “My dad told me to fight him,” results in an arrest warrant for the dad.

Do you agree that these parents should be charged with a crime, or is this just part of teaching your children to defend themselves? Will martial arts and self defense instructors be next?

Best answer:

Answer by Wolf
there is no crime here. this is riduculous

Question by yea…ok: Ok so the economy seems to be creating a bunch of opportunities for tech jobs?
There are so many less business related job opportunities available and a growing number of tech jobs specifically developing/programming/systems positions opening up. As a result I have seen a huge increase in the amount of tech related schools & courses out there.
For example there is things like treehouse which is an online “school” which teaches a bit of everything. In addition my school is going to make a Computer Science bachelors of arts (BA) degree. Right now there is only a bachelors of science (BS) degree which comes from the college of engineering. The BA would no longer require such a heavy emphasis on the science & mathematics. It would no longer even require taking our computer systems course which is basically the nuts & bolts of computer science and is one of the most difficult courses one must take as a computer science undergrad.
So what I want to know is where is this going? It seems that there will be an increase in designers and real basic front end developers but will they really know what is necessary to be a successful employee? Will this drive a computer science degrees salary down?
This is coming from a senior computer science undergad.
and sorry its school of arts & sciences

Best answer:

Answer by Go with the flow
Computer Science does not fall into the arts.
I have never seen this in my LIFE.

Careful online schools are known to be SCAMS.
Any school making this fatal mistake is a SCAM.

Stay clear of Graphic Design (rated the top 5th worst degree).
In fact, stay clear of anything in the arts and web design. No jobs.
None. Nada. Zip.
They may be fun and easy degrees. No jobs.
I learned how to design a website in 1 weekend with a good book. 50 hours straight.
And anyone can make a logo.

SUPER BIG CONTEXT MODEL :0

So the teacher told us to make an art school, more specifically a music and dance school, so the design here is pretty simple, it consists of two parts, the front which houses the classrooms and school offices and the back which houses the theatre.

The main stairs (bottom left) are located at the center, they are circular and they turn around an elevator, you cant really see it here, since i never built those into the model but they did made it into the floor plans haha, anyway the walls of the classrooms are translucid so you have a some very interesting lighting imho.

Anyways i have uploaded countless pictures of this model but this are pictures of the context model, ironically i live in one of the context houses <,<…. the teacher chose that terrain of all the terrains in the city and i live 20 meters away from it…. ah well :3 …it was destiny

Question by ♥Katie Leung♥: Should I attend an ivy league school or liberal arts school?
I am torn apart between picking either one of the Ivy League schools (Penn) or one of the “top 50 national liberal arts school”. Can someone give me the pro’s and con’s of attending to each of the schools? I went to both of their “Preview Days” and I love them both! I still can’t decide which! >.<
They both provide great financial aid packages.

I will be the first in my family to go to a university, especially coming from a low-income family.

Best answer:

Answer by lib.rare.ian
Depends a lot on your major. But I’m a little confused: have you already been accepted by both of these schools? If not, then apply to both of them, and see whether one or both of them accept you, and see what finance offers they make. That may make your decision easier.

Question by Joy Gillingham: Why did Carol Anne Freeling not like the exceptional school for gifted and emotionally disturbed children?
During the beginning of Poltergeist 3 Carol Anne Freeling says “Yay, now I don’t have to go to that creepy school!” while I understand Carol Anne’s dislike of the psychologist, what I never understood was why she didn’t like the school Being interested in the fine arts personally, I would have loved the school itself.

Answer by BIG DADDY COOL
After being haunted, she was enough of a freak. She wants to live a normal life and be a normal kid.

Instead going there would have been a freak show filled with weirdos who make her feel like more of an outcast.

Is there any possible way to become a pastry chef online? I really want to, but I have three kids (two of them are infants) and I have no time to stop the mommy thing to actually “go to school” I could do it from home, if there is a way to do that. Any tips?

Answer by zeuz
I’ve not heard of such a thing, but I can suggest that you contact the major culinary schools to see if they offer streaming videos of their courses.
